How Does The Mitre Calcio Max Compare To Other Mitre Training Footballs?
When I saw the Mitre Calcio Max had been launched a few years back, I did wonder why. Mitre already had a great ball in the range and adding another seemed an odd move. It was then announced the Mitre Impel Plus was going to be discontinued so made perfect sense. However, the Calcio Max Training Football was exactly the same as the Impel Max so why add it to the range? Mitre have updated the graphics on all balls this year and now one massive difference between the Impel Max and Calcio Max. The Impel Max panel configuration is now 12 panel, whilst the Calcio Max has a 30 panel configuration, as before.
Oh yes, as of 2024 the Calcio Max will be rebranded as the Calcio EVO and the Impel Max is now the Impel EVO.
It turns out that the Mitre Calcio Max or Calcio Evo isn’t available to every retailer. The idea was originally to help bricks and mortar shops compete with the online giants. As it stands, the Calcio Max football won’t be sold by the national accounts. This should allow smaller retailers to compete online and at least make a small margin.
How Does The Calcio Max Compare With The Impel Max?
The Calcio Max is no longer the same as the Impel Max. From 2024 both balls lose the ‘Max’ tag. They have been rebranded as the Calcio EVO and Impel EVO from 2024. The graphics and panel configuration are different but the materials used are identical. This is Mitre’s top training football and is a much higher quality than the Impel One or Calcio One balls. If you are considering buying the Impel Max then the Calcio Max is currently my preferred alternative. Especially, as it is likely to be cheaper than the Impel Max so better value for money
It has a textured surface and a soft touch outer. When we used the ball we liked the control we had and the ball felt great too. A quick search online shows the Calcio Max is slightly cheaper than the Impel Max. I think my preference is for this ball ahead of the Impel Max but that is down to price and the graphics alone. The Calcio Max is available in 2 colours and in sizes 3, 4 and 5.
